Bahhh!!! More frustrated!!

Photobucket

The freaking scale said 433 today WTF guys??? Seriously...for the most part I've kept my calories under 1800 calories, fat usually hovers somewhere around 30 on average so wtf is going on? The ONLY thing I can really think of is my salt intake which is absolutely out of control. I don't know what the deal is, but I've been craving it like crazy so I've been having lots of salty foods (olives, pickles, salsa) and I've been salting the absolute crap out of mostly everything I eat. Last night I had baked potatoes (2), one with salsa and a bit of light sour cream and the other with ICBINB spray and a bit of sour cream and i swear I felt like I was salting it every 5 seconds.

I suppose I could be retaining quite a bit of water, but geez...it sucks to see the scale moving up when you are working out and eating better than you have in quite some time. I'm going to the gym in a few minutes and I think I'm going to work out in the gym rather than the pool today. They have one of those hand bikes there (the kind where you pedal with your hands and look like an absolute idiot) I might try if I can't do the regular bike without looking like my body is having convulsions. I mean, If I keep at it, the scale has to start moving in the other direction regardless of water retention right? I may also try replacing my lunch with a protein shake and see if that helps.

That picture is full of win! I feel like that all the time! You know you could be right about the salt. That is a LOT of salt.

This is probably not even a good suggestion but do you think maybe you're electrolytes are out of whack? Since you are working out more than usual maybe you need to maybe drink a gatorade or something afterward? I believe they make a sugar free version now.

Yeah, they make a lower sugar version of Gatorade. I'm addicted and have to have it when I work out.

I love the pic!!! And it is probably water retention. I don't know how we're supposed to live low fat, low cal, no sugar, low sodium...uh huh. that leaves us with...celery? So much fun.

But good luck with your work out - that weight will come of eventually. :) I know you can do it!

Salt will get you every time.

I had already lowered my consumption, and when I lowered it even further, I was actually able to quit taking BP pills for the first time in 4 years - I couldn't believe it was the only thing left that was keeping my BP high - just insane!

Hopefully you can get it in check and I'll bet you will start seeing the pounds fall off -- good luck!

Every time I eat meat (which has salt in it naturally) or cheese (also salty) or anything else with salt I put on two pounds. Cut the salt. There are seasonings you can use that are salt free, delicious, and that ease that need. I have a favourite red pepper and garlic seasoning that has no cals and no salt. PERFECT

Good luck

the word verification is eblimp-- that's me after a nice salty hot dog.

Sweetie, I know it's a hateful thing, but the salt has to go. That scale will fall if the salt is O-U-T. I promise!

I think you're on to something with the salt. I have to keep my sodium level under 1000 each day because I have high blood pressure. It's really helped me with losing weight and after a while I didn't miss the taste as much. There's a lot of sodium in frozen and processed foods so be on the lookout for those!

Try Mrs. Dash seasonings to give your food more flavor. There are a lot of different types available you might enjoy.

Good luck!

lol.
It will go, but you have to flush it out. Don't hop on to the scale till you do. Keep on keeping on.

I quit the salt and started using pepper, rosemary (i love rosemary) and just depending on the food, different kinds of herbs. I totally went throught the pickle phase pre-op. I mean like a huge jar every two days b/c I was just so wanting salty stuff. I also use alot of cayenne pepper in different kinds of foods, but I am a cajun so I don't recommend you go crazy with the hotness unless you know you can tolerate it.

Melissa, you could be right about my electrolytes, but then I think I just loves me some salt. I've always been that way :( I thought the pic was hilarious and accurately portrayed my feelings the last few mornings when I got on to weigh myself. damn thing!

Flabby: I think the fact that everything that tastes good is bad for us is more proof that this is actually hell. I think that is why evil people seem to thrive while those of us trying to eek out a decent existence seem to get the short end of the stick all the time lol. Just a theory ;)

Barb: I do know and have tried seasonings, but nothing seems to do it for me like salt does. I'm going to have to suck it up and do without though. lmao about your word verification, it cracks me up when it is semi-relevant to my commentary.

Dominique: I know honey, I'm making drastic changes tomorrow, more to come in today's blog.

Chris, I know you are a kindred spirit. I've been drinking tons of perrier, but not enough to counteract the salt apparently. my fingers are completely bloated the last few days so I'm almost positive that's it :(

Krys: I think I'm just going to have to go cold turkey starting tomorrow. I have to hop over to your blog to see how you are doing!
