Ok, so I've been rather Pollyanna-ish since my surgery. Please don't take this post to mean that I am headed down the long and bumpy trail of negativity, but I just have to get this out of my system.
1. I hate you because no matter what i have on my stomach, taking your multi-vitamin makes me projectile vomit within about 2 minutes.
2. I hate you because your calcium supplements are like trying to choke down HUGE sweet tarts. In small doses, this might be a nice treat. In the quarter-sized, quarter inch thick discs we have to take 3 times a day....not so much. I defy anyone to bite into one of these without inhaling some of the chalk dust mid-chew. *cough, cough* I thought maybe I was a freak and gave one to Erik (he was making fun of this particular complaint of mine). He bit into it and about two seconds later, started coughing!!)
3. I hate your passion fruit flavored iron because it leaves my mouth tasting like I just spit shined a dirty locker room with nothing but my tongue. At home, I've dubbed this particular flavor "Sweaty Ball Sac" Flavor. I may have mentioned this before so forgive me if I repeat myself. I honestly haven't tasted any sweaty ball sacs, but I imagine they must taste an awful lot like the "Passion Fruit" flavored iron from BA.
4. I hate you because I have to take so many of you, I often feel as if I'm popping pills all day long. They are seriously a meal in and of themselves.
5. I hate you because I spent a fortune on you pre-surgery and am now needing to find alternative supplements that I can actually take.
Ok, I guess that is all the hate I can muster up at the moment. Thanks for letting me vent!

How about liquid suppliments, instead? Preferably those that can be mixed into something you like to drink?
Oh, thanks for talking about sweaty ball sack flavour. I was hungry.
I am not, anymore. lolol
Woman - get creative! Blend/crush those bad boys and mix 'em with whatever you can stomach well enough to choke 'em down! I'm thinking diabetic fruit preserves, gelato, hell... full fat icecream shake if you gotta! You're a smart girl - you didn't get this far for some silly pills to sideline you :) Good luck hon!
Ice Queen: LOL sorry about that. I was discussing with a friend that maybe I should make that a repeating thing on my blog. One gross out story a week to kill the overactive appetite. What do you think?
Anonymous: I have tried MANY different ways to get them down, trust me. Sucking on the calcium tablets are easier, but take 3-4 times longer. By the time I finally take all the other pills and suck the calcium until it is done, it is time to start a whole new round. Lucky for me, I got some citrical calcium citrate petites that seem to go down so much easier.
The multi I just CANT take. As a matter of fact, while i was writing this, I accidently took the multi that was in my evening med box thinking it was my iron. Within 30 seconds, I was nauseas and a minute out I was heaving into the toilet. I need to find an alternative :P
Thise friggin' calcium things are horrible... I switched to the calcium caltrate chewy bites... they are like tootsie rolls but they're sugar free... I almost threw up those calcium things even after crushing them up in applasauce and yogurt... they're nasty! I am a new follower... *Maria*-Blogger from "This one time at BAND Camp..." I have been a lurker, I think only leaving one comment so far, but your "sweaty ball sac" flavor description made me laugh so hard I couldn't just close the browser without letting you know that I'm sorry these are so hard for you to take but you have thoroughly amused at least one of your readers during your relating this angst! LOLOLOL! You are doing great and I enjoy reading about your progress. I wonder if you can like grind them up into smoothies...of course then you'd have to eat a lot of smoothies! You'd think that they'd come up with supplements you could just swallow instead of chew or at least better flavors that didn't make you choke!
I agree that maybe you should crush it all together and make a quick shot drink. It's gotta suck having all that!
I simply don't know where to begin, except to say you're a better woman than I am!
I switched from Bariatric Advantage to Celebrate Vitamins.. their taste is much more tolerable, and their customer service is WAYYYY Better!!!
I like the Grape Celebrate flavors.. :)
I agree, they taste like poo! :(
I ordered samples from Celebrate and so far everything has tasted really decent. The tangerine flavor for the iron is really good. Hope this helps!
I haven't been very active with my blogger blog, but was following you some time ago. I see you decided to have surgery! Which surgery? I had the VSG last December. Starting weight at surgery 376. Current weight: 282. Seem to lose much slower than Gastric Bypassers for sure. Also, I can't take any of those Bariatric Advtantage vitamins..the artificial sweetners make me sick. I just take an over the counter multiple vitamin, Vitamin D3 and Biotin.
